Not often can it be said that an album really cuts off from the regular process of association and just melts your mind. A few field studies have lead to evidence of Paper Light's supposed detoxifying properties, primarily in the psycho-emotive context. That's not saying that it won't knock out a few physical clogs if it's loud enough. Mystery synths rise and sink back, pierced with distant, bucolic guitar and the occasional half-imagined holler. A warm fur covers it all, wrapping up each piece into an organic audio 'being'. Tracks like the closer Our Friend the Beach act as a subtle anthem for leaving the inkwell open.
