frosted glass
'After running a podcast from fellow Norwegian space-disco maverick Diskjokke just two weeks ago, it might seem like it's a little soon to post an exclusive mix from Lindstrøm. However, while Diskjokke put together a solid, dancefloor-oriented DJ session, Lindstrøm has gone in a completely different direction. Rather than simply showing off all of the latest dubs or showcasing his limited-edition vintage gems, the veteran artist has assembled a diverse collection of tunes, and although it has not been officially tabbed as an "influences" mix, the varied styles on display—primarily late-'70s and early-'80s prog rock, psych, jangle pop, and disco—all reflect a small piece of the sound that has come to define Lindstrøm's artistic output. It's certainly not what we—or probably anyone, for that matter—would have expected from a Lindstrøm podcast, but it's certainly an interesting listen.

Review- Cloud People:: 'Even Wilder'
Been waiting patiently to hear this piece of work. The Pines' big chiefs of analog dub Cloud People is back on the track with their new EP on Batona Music, Even Wilder. True life a pioneering foundation in Pine Barrens bass music, Cloud People use all kinds of analog technology, instruments, and Abelton Live to try to 'tame' the emotions and energies that come up out of the elements in the Jersey sticks.
On this slab, Cloud People put out a fairly concise little batch of tunes, dipping into a few different territories- oscillating kraut, unabashed freakout house and a nice bit of BoC-style, yearning psychedelia. Sam Moskalik plays the djembe and Evan Wilder plays the drum kit and vocoder, also featuring a few other characters from the deep woods. The ep was mastered by Paul 'Starkey' Geissinger, who recently did a mini mix for BBC Radio 1, among other things...
The EP starts off with a quick, warm throbbing krautwerk, the first nebula of Helios- just enough to whet the appetite for whatever the intro will allude to. Following suite in a fairly unexpected turn comes Awesome Sunsets, a sutra of detachment for the high elevations of pygmy pine. Featured up front is a bit of digital lamentation for the fading sky, via Wilder's vocoder rhetoric. Up next is Warm Front Pressure Drop, the preview track Wildechosystems showcased in our Cloud People interview last year. Best played loud, this track is one funky ass freakout. Open Deck Cloud Ship is a wild ode to house music, got to love the yells and reckless drum crescendos. On its way out, Helios II drops in for a couple quick minutes of solar bully bass synth. Time moves fast though, and soon enough we're left in silence.
Check it out on Batona Music, scheduled to drop sometime in July.
Through the atmosphere
In the pine trees
a smooth breeze
carries pollen
through the rays
of the vernal sunset
Through the atmosphere
Coastal flood planes
reflect back
red and violet
through the haze
of the summer sunset
Through the atmosphere
For a moment
we can sense
something wild
in the fade
of the autumn sunset
Through the atmosphere
Frozen woodlands
lost in snow
glow bright orange
blaring warmth
from the winter sunset
It's taking over you
It's taking over you
It's taking over you
It's taking over you
It's taking over you
It's taking over you

R Stevie Moore LIVE ON TAPE
Sometimes its best to just get up and get her done. Last friday after work all I wanted was to smoke my mind to peace and curl up in bed. But you know how it goes, hopped on facebook and found out R Stevie Moore was playing 40 minutes down 206. Naturally, I got my pockets together and got a friend to come with.
Been on the lookout for a chance to catch Stevie in the live setting for a while, and seeing that the show was booked as a 'rare solo performance', I figured it would be a good chance to catch him expounding his signature Cybernet Age brand of caustic mysticism. Haven't been to the Record Collector yet but I've known all about that slick surf twang and rockabilly rayon they book on the regular. Turned out to be a swanky joint, did a bit of picking in the bins out front while the opening act played.
The recording should speak for itself, but to get the full picture you ought to go out and catch a show. Hell of a stage man. Each side captures the full first and second sets, tape cut out and left me hanging for the encore but it worked out as a pretty nice package deal. Rip turned out better then expected, sounds alright to me.
R Stevie Moore is on the road NOW on his FIRST EVER world tour. Got to hang out with him a bit after the show and did some pretty quality bullshitting, incredibly cool guy and it's great to see he's out and about. He also has a new album 'Advanced' coming out, so check that too. Support DIY music, and the king of new age grassroots.

Glow Slowli
Haven't been able to go a day in the last week and a half without listening to this at least once, sometimes a few times in a row. Probably the best tropical minded- and worldly album of the year, to me Gutter Parties has the potential to blow up into something huge with music this good. Probably the next level of music in general. Extreme positivity, if you love to be happy and feel good grab this killer album, and leave a bit of cotter to support this dude!
Another gem from AM Discs, at this point expect nothing less.
Vertice Royale
Panning the horizons for a glint of white in the mirror, barely able to drive from that inward drop into the K grid. Almost got a full tank, can't afford to lose this time. Floor it.
Angel Chrome
The name of the Umberto track might throw off your groove for a second.. but that's what he does, remember? Other then that, the music on here is entirely smooth and listenable. Hell of a spread for a 7".

Wish that Where's Your Child Philly party would have gone through, but such is impermanence.
Band sounds good.

Glass Bottom Island
If you haven't heard it yet, you should just know that the new Teams album is killer. The records are exclusive limited to 250, pressed on transparent vinyl with solid grey and pink splashes. I'm going to have a couple of these available if anybody the US is trying to get one without the international shipping. Looking forward to more high art and working with AM Discs.

Red Cedar Sutra
Stag Hare did a set in the Slow Gospel guy's attic. 36 minutes of thick, positive, meditative music.

Sweet Sptmbr
Honestly I don't think even the names of the tracks do justice to this work right here. In the 'now' you might say the crossroads between chillwave and witch house maybe but this is some teenage road warrior shit, hopeful anthems for a world without cities. As addictive as it gets.

Songs for Thoth
Very rewarding listen right here. Will have to try it out on a psychedelic summer night soon. Might as well cop a tape from Crooked while you're at it, its good.
